Term 1

6th Dec 2019

Primary 1 have had a busy first term settling into school. In Numeracy we have been focusing on the numbers 0-8. We have been learning these numbers through rhymes, songs and stories. We have also been learning number formation and learning to order these numbers.

In Literacy we have been learning a new sound each week totalling nine sounds this term! We have been learning the sounds each letter makes through the jolly phonics songs and we have been learning how to form each letter. We have even started to blend some sounds together to make words.

Our topic this term was ‘Houses and Homes.’ We had so much fun exploring the playroom especially the role play area set up as a home corner, a castle, an animal rescue centre and a building site.

We have really enjoyed lots of other activities and events this term including; odd sock day for anti-bullying, decorating our cookie monster pumpkin for Halloween, musical pathways with Miss Una, Spanish with Rebecca and Speech and Language with Brenda. We also loved having our parents join us for Parent to Lunch and visiting the spooky Halloween trail.

We finished off the term by writing letters to Santa using our new sounds and visiting the local post office to send the letter.

What a busy term we have had! Have a lovely Christmas and see you all again in term 2.
