June 2025
June was a very exciting month as we began preparing for our big step into Primary One! As part of our transition, we visited the Primary One classrooms, sang songs for the children, and explored important areas like the cloakrooms and toilets. Each week, we also visited the school library, where we discovered lots of wonderful books and practised using our ‘whisper voices’ while reading.
We started having more dinners in the school canteen, just like the Primary One children. We used the same trays and followed the same routines, helping us feel confident and ready for lunchtime in “big school.”
One of the most special events in June was our Graduation. We reflected on everything we’ve learned this year, sang songs and rhymes for our families, and performed confidently on stage in front of a big audience. It was a proud moment for everyone!
As the month came to a close, we had two very exciting visitors. First, the Ice-Cream Van arrived—we could hear it coming up the road! Everyone enjoyed a delicious ice cream in the afternoon sunshine. Then, on our final day, Buddy the Clown joined us for our end-of-year party. He amazed us with his balloon creations and funny tricks—it was the perfect way to end a fantastic year.
We’ve had a wonderful and busy year in Ballykelly Nursery Unit. As we look ahead to Primary One in September, we’re excited to meet new friends and continue our learning journey at Ballykelly Primary School.
