March News

March has been an exciting month in Nursery as we explored our new topic Ballykelly Village and People Who Help Us. Our role play areas were transformed into a Bakery, Construction Site and Hospital, giving the children lots of opportunities for imaginative learning. We also practised writing letters, using our post box and stamps to send messages to our friends. Throughout the month, we learned new songs about People Who Help Us as well as Spring rhymes—then we took a special trip to the P1 classes to perform them!

At the Art Table, the children were very busy creating beautiful crafts for Mother’s Day, Spring and Easter. We painted pictures for our mums, made special keepsakes, prepared food for the birds, and decorated our Nursery walls with bright and cheerful Spring artwork.

We also celebrated World Book Day and the children loved dressing up as their favourite storybook characters. Nursery was filled with colourful costumes, exciting storytelling and lots of book‑themed fun. It was a wonderful way to encourage our love of reading.

One of the highlights this month was when Holly the Hedgehog woke up from her long winter hibernation. The children were amazed that she had slept right through the cold months.

We also enjoyed a lovely visit to Hunter’s Bakery, where we looked at all the delicious breads and cakes on display. As part of our learning about using money, each child bought a bun, which we later enjoyed during an outdoor picnic back at Nursery.

A nurse visited us to talk about how to look after our bodies and stay healthy. She checked to make sure we were fit and well, and the children had great fun using her stethoscope to listen to each other’s heartbeats. She also demonstrated how to put on bandages and we learned so much from her visit.

Every Friday, we look forward to our exercise class with Coach Jack. We are learning lots of new skills, and the sessions have been a fantastic mixture of fun and fitness.
