As May arrived, we began exploring our exciting new topic: Bears! The children learned all about where different types of bears live and enjoyed listening to a variety of bear-themed stories during our daily story time. One of our favourites was We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The nursery was filled with laughter as we acted out the story, journeying through mud, grass, and snow with the characters. 

We also welcomed some very special visitors to nursery—our caterpillars! They arrived tiny and wriggly, and we watched in amazement as they grew bigger each day. Alongside observing their transformation, we loved reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 

Outdoors, we made great use of the field next to nursery to practise for Sports Day. The children had a fantastic time preparing for races, especially the Potato and Spoon race and the Obstacle course.

Our nature walks took us to the school pond, where we spotted lots of tadpoles. We even managed to scoop one up and observe it wriggling in the water! On our woodland trail walks, we discovered a variety of beautiful flowers and plants in bloom.

We’re also thoroughly enjoying our Fundamental Movement Skills sessions with Coach Harry. The children are learning lots of new physical skills and, most importantly, having so much fun while doing it!
